01 / THE ART OF SLOWING DOWN

More breathing room. Less on the schedule.

A small group, two boats and an archipelago Anton knows bay by bay. Anton skippers the catamaran; Nadya skippers the sailing yacht. Choose your home on the water: we share the route and the easygoing mood.

Compared with festival week, there is more room for massages, swimming, island cafés and places a large fleet rarely has time for. An evening can be just the sea, or a private music session with Anton if everyone feels like it.

02 / AN ISLAND AT A TIME

Islands & route

Ko Chang → Ko Wai → Ko Rang East → Ko Mak → Ko Kood / Ao Salat → Ko Mak → Ko Chang

We add daytime snorkelling on the east side of Koh Rang and Ao Salat on Koh Kood: “Pirate Bay”, with a fishing village and a golden Buddha. There is also time for a waterfall, mangroves and quiet beaches.

On a suitable dark evening, we will look for bioluminescent plankton. It does not follow a timetable: the skipper chooses the location and opportunity according to conditions and park rules.

The plan follows the weather: the skipper chooses passages, anchorages and landings to suit conditions. Photos are from our Thai trips; the map introduces the route and is not for navigation.

An easy arrival

Transfer from Bangkok, meet your skipper and settle aboard. Pick up fruit, enjoy a relaxed dinner and sleep in the marina.

Your first island exhale

Sail to Koh Wai for warm water, a snorkel, a small beach and lunch ashore. There is no need to do everything.

Reefs, clear water and Koh Mak

A daytime snorkelling stop at the eastern reefs of Koh Rang, subject to conditions and park rules. Then Koh Mak for cafés, a massage and a free evening. We will look for glowing plankton on a suitable evening during the week.

02.02Ko Kood / Ao Salat

A visit to Pirate Bay

A huge golden Buddha welcomes the bay. Ao Salat is known as Pirate Bay: local stories link it to raids on trading ships bound for Bangkok. Today it is a stilt-house fishing village. Anton will tell you more over lunch; for now, imagine a boat disappearing with its booty into that narrow entrance. We visit by sea if conditions allow, or overland.

03.02Ko Kood → Ko Mak

Waterfall, mangroves and a massage

A mangrove river, a walk through the jungle and fresh waterfall water. A day for simply being together, like Nadya and me in the photo. Then lunch and a massage; weather permitting, we head back to Koh Mak towards evening.

04.02Ko Mak

An island without a to-do list

Koh Mak at your pace: bikes or a buggy, quiet roads, a favourite café and fresh fruit. Explore together or spend the day on the beach. A coconut in the evening, and perhaps another massage.

One last sailing day

A final gentle sail towards Koh Chang, swimming stops and dinner with our little group. We aim to spend the last night at anchor near the base if conditions allow, using the marina when needed.

Keep a little summer

Breakfast, boat handover and a transfer to Bangkok around 10:00–11:00. Give the city another day or two: a shower, a soft bed, a favourite café and a stroll following our map.

03 / MANGOES & LONG BREAKFASTS

Two meals ashore most days. More island time for you.

We usually have lunch and dinner at small local restaurants. Aboard, breakfast is simple and shared: fruit, coffee and something fresh from the market. We may occasionally make lunch on the boat to stay longer in a favourite bay.

Mangoes, pineapple, dragon fruit, fish and Thai cooking shape the week. We help organise meals and find good places, leaving very little daily cooking for you.

04 / YOUR HOME AT SEA

A boat Anton knows like the back of his hand.

Lagoon 420 · Exit Strategy

Exit Strategy is a well-kept Lagoon with a generous cockpit and four double cabins. It is an older model, but Anton has sailed this very boat for four consecutive years and knows every corner, just as he knows the region. It is one of his trusted favourites around Koh Chang.

Air conditioning and the watermaker depend on onboard power and the boat’s operating routine. Your skipper will coordinate a comfortable schedule.

These photographs show Exit Strategy itself. Aqua Charters lists it as a Lagoon 420; the Lagoon 421 Chirouble is a different boat. Each of the four cabins has its own shower and toilet.

Your local budget

290 €

per person for the week · planned budget

Allow around €290 per person for the week, based on our previous trips: shared breakfast groceries, occasional lunches aboard, restaurants ashore, fuel and local activities.

Our usual rhythm leaves room for bikes or a buggy on Koh Mak, roughly a massage a day and a coconut every day. Choose what you enjoy; your final spending depends on your orders and plans.

Flights, transfers, hotels before or after the week, personal medical insurance, shopping and alcohol are separate. We confirm the full package and final price before payment.

Booking, payment & cancellation

Before payment we confirm the boat, cabin, services and final price in writing. Payment options and deadlines are in our travel rules. For bookings close to departure, we agree the schedule personally.

06 / THE JOURNEY STARTS GENTLY

Give Bangkok a little extra time.

Bangkok skytrain and warm evening light
BKKBANGKOK

Fly into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, BKK. We recommend 28 January: sleep and adjust on the first day, then enjoy Bangkok on the second. Bangkok is four hours ahead of Moscow. We will send our city guide.

Our comfortable shared transfer is provisionally leaving Urbana Sathorn at 08:00 on 30 January, with both crews together. Siam Royal View Marina on Koh Chang is usually 4.5–6.5 hours away including the ferry, depending on traffic and queues. The transfer is €40 per person each way.

Arriving on 29 January? Stay near BKK and send us your hotel so we can agree a pickup on the way. If arriving on the starting day, be ready at the BKK meeting point by 08:00, with immigration and baggage collection completed. Confirm such a flight with us before booking.

Staying in Pattaya or flying there? Tell us beforehand and we will send a meeting point along the transfer route.

After the week

On the evening of 5 February we return towards our home base. We hope to spend the final night at anchor: a last swim, dinner by the sea and a morning in the bay. If conditions require it, we will use the marina.

On 6 February we have breakfast and hand back the boats. The transfer to Bangkok is planned for around 10:00–11:00. Stay a little longer to unwind and follow our city map. If you need a flight that evening, agree its time with us before buying.

BANGKOK / OUR LITTLE GUIDE

Bangkok before and after the sea

Three places where Nadya and I have stayed ourselves. Choose the one that feels right; hotels are booked separately.

BANGKOK / STAY

Urbana Sathorn

Our first choice for space and views: large apartments with a private balcony and Bangkok right outside your window. The hotel has been around for a while, so some details may feel dated. For us, the generous space, views and balcony more than make up for it. Our shared transfer leaves from here.

BANGKOK / STAY

Wyndham Bangkok Queen Convention Centre

A fresher, more polished option. Views of Benjakitti Park have a little New York feeling, and the rooftop infinity pool is a good reason to give Bangkok another day.

BANGKOK / STAY

Ascott Embassy Sathorn Bangkok

A more premium option close to Urbana Sathorn. Five-star comfort and a convenient location near our shared meeting point. Usually more expensive; a lovely way to add some hotel time to the journey.

Documents & entry

Russian citizens currently have visa-free entry for up to 30 days.

Belarusian citizens can apply for Visa on Arrival for up to 15 days, with a THB 2,000 fee. For a longer stay, arrange an appropriate visa in advance.

All foreign visitors, including children, need the free TDAC, submitted within three days including the arrival date. Checked on 26 October 2026; recheck the rules for your passport before departure.

Money & connection

Exchange roughly €150 into Thai baht at the start for small cafés, massages and island purchases. International cards are not accepted everywhere. We plan opportunities to exchange more on Koh Mak on days three and five and will point you in the right direction.

For data we recommend the MobiMatter app and a travel eSIM. Roaming with Russian operators is also an option: check your plan and activation in advance. Coverage can disappear in remote bays.

eSIM · MobiMatter ↗

Medical travel insurance covering sailing is required. Choose cover for your destination and activities and bring your policy confirmation.

Pack light. Bring your curiosity.

Swimwear, light long sleeves, a hat, sunglasses and SPF. Shoes for deck and walks, personal medicines, a powerbank and waterproof phone protection. Remember earplugs and a sleep mask. Large suitcases are welcome on catamarans; see storage and Dyson advice below.

07 / PRESS PLAY & DRIFT

Sometimes the best club is our little crew.

If the mood is right, Anton will host a few intimate music evenings. No compulsory party schedule: dance when you feel like it, or listen to the water. For now, play SAIL Thailand and picture your sunset.

SAILING MAN / FEEL AT HOME

Bring the things you love

A few useful answers to make packing easy and help you feel at home aboard.

Can I bring a large suitcase?

Yes, you can bring a large suitcase on a catamaran. We will find a place in a storage compartment or under a berth where the layout allows. You do not need to arrange to leave it at the marina in advance. For an unusually large case, send us its dimensions before travelling so we can agree storage aboard or, if needed, at the marina. Monohulls have less storage, so a soft bag is easier.

Can I bring my Dyson?

Yes, Dyson and other hair dryers are usually welcome on a catamaran. Use them on shore power or with the generator running, provided the supply and socket can handle the load. Check with the skipper before plugging in: we will confirm your model and voltage, the boat's equipment and other appliances in use. A running generator does not make every socket suitable.

Dresses, hats and evenings ashore

Bring your favourite dresses, outfits and hats for sunsets, dinners and island walks. You can pack heels for going out in town too. Aboard, go barefoot or wear clean, non-slip deck-friendly shoes; save heels for shore.

Earplugs and a sleep mask — for every trip

Pack comfortable personal earplugs and a sleep mask. Marinas can be noisy, and voices and everyday sounds travel between cabins. These two small things can help you rest on both yachts and catamarans.

08 / GOOD TO KNOW

Before you say “I’m in”

Can I come solo with no sailing experience?

Yes. Your skipper handles the boat and you choose how much sailing you want to try. We can help match you with a shared double cabin.

Can I bring children or teenagers?

As of 25 October there are no children in the group. If you would like to come with a child or teenager, write to Anton: we will find a suitable option on his catamaran. He loves introducing young people to the sea. We discuss accommodation, pace and safety with parents beforehand.

Will I get seasick?

This is usually a gentle introduction to the sea, but waves and seasickness cannot be ruled out. A catamaran offers more stability and space; the skipper chooses the pace and anchorages.

SAILING MAN / ESCAPE COLLECTION

Ready to trade winter for summer?

Write to Nadya: we will get to know you, answer questions and find the boat that suits your pace. Anton skippers the catamaran, Nadya the yacht; we share the islands and the easygoing mood.
